Now that the real estate market is in the slumps, certain property gurus in South Africa have started offering webinars in flipping ‘virtual’ real estate. Now, that is just another way of saying ‘web sites’. Internet real estate is a virtual commodity that can be bought and sold in much the same manner as property in real life.
The risks and capital outlaw are much lower, making this an attractive option for speculators. However there is no inflation-linked appreciation in value as for ‘real’ real estate, no rental income (not always true – you can monetize many sites) and you need have access to accurate data or do some research to get the stats on which niche sites are ‘hot’.
It doesn’t hurt to be au fair with the latest web trends so that you can do some ‘fixing up’ of some of your virtual real estate.
